The new GPXJ blanks from UC are an evolution of the original CXJ lineup of popular jigging rods, tailor made for the California sport boat fishing and designed to get around some of the disadvantages that shorter more parabolic jigging rods have when targeting big bluefin.
They have been extended to 6’4 which gives you a bit of extra leg room for going over other fishermen as well as avoiding trim tabs and props. The addition of an extra layer of woven carbon fiber stiffens up the butt section from last two guides down to the butt, this gives you a lot of extra leverage and pulling power to get line back on your reel. While the butt section is stiffer the tip has been extended with more glass so you can maintain a proper speed jigging action and entice the fish to bite.
A total of 6 models are available starting from a 0 for your typical yellowtail, rockfish and lingcod jigging going all the way up to the 6 capable of fishing 50lbs of drag for the big bluefin. There’s sure to be a model that will suit your needs.
